Freedom and Fashion-Indian Bridal Fashion week 2014

If you dig into the skull of what fashion means in today's date & time, you will realize that Fashion is an expression, expression of uniqueness, expression of identity, expression of Freedom!
Because Fashion is more than just breaking conventions. It's the art or language of freedom incessantly.

While I witnessed one of the biggest celebration of this Freedom at IBFW, my thoughts about Fashion & Freedom just got affirmed. While the new age designers defy the rules & break conventions with aplomb.

It's interesting to see how lucidly these visual storytellers who are the enthusiastic designers knit their stories in themes with Music adding to you personal experience while you watch these fashion shows & here are the raw snippets for you to see the extravaganza through our lens.

These are shots Day 3 from Azva's show which showed beautiful sparkling gold jewellery & promising structured collection in Pristine whites, peaches and black dominated palette.

Second show for the night : Falguni and Shane Peacock 

A Peacock bride is a traditional bride with an edge. The designers' bridal collection was a wild take on vintage with beautiful biker jackets, quirky motifs and cascading capes in antique tone on tone embroidery.

These pictures come in late due to my tight scedules , but better late than never.

A Punch of Color!

Hello Indian Bridal Fashion week & you need a look that is functional as much it is an epitome of Summer Dressing.

So whats the secret to a Fashion Blogger's effortless style? Playing with favorites, may be?
Sequins with a punch of Color. Infusing a few elements here & there.

I pulled together this outfit with two favorites separates.Twinset Twos!

I am not sure, people might be perturbed when they see me on not-so-dressed up days, But the fact is that I personally believe in dressing up to one's mood. Sometimes you might have an urge to wear that pretty Tulle dress & Some days are reserved for leather boots.Sometimes you're in sporty luxe look even at a Bridal Fashion week.Its all about how you bring it together!
And more than for anyone else, it should work for you.

Who Shops The Most Contest By DLF Promenade!

Like every other fashion girl , shopping fascinates me like no other hobby & I don't mind giving my  blood & sweat to it. Literally!

So what do you think would be my response to call from DLF team to pursue a contest based on who shops the most? I was in, in a blink.

When I first begun to think about it, I wondered what will I shop in the budget of 1500.It was really tricky as the maximum items by a team would win it.

And I am happy to say that I could shop 25 items in just 45 minutes. Yes it had me running from store to store in DLF promenade & few temptations which I knew I would buy later.DLF promenade is situated in the heart of the Delhi city & you could spend every dime guilt free, I caution you.

The platform was given to team of three Delhi Bloggers to make every buck count. This just added to my portfolio of activities :)

We mingled with each other before the event kick started & we were tussling to find the cheapest items within the time frame.We collected possibly everyday lifestyle items,some funny items.

I was runner up at the event! Hence more shopping followed.

Also on another shift, I turned a year older last month,  and could relate to what Twinkle Khanna said in her interview at Vogue titled 'Collecting soap Bubbles'
 "The Good part about getting older is that you stop trying to prove anything to anyone, including yourself. All you are, in pursuit of is collecting experiences, beautiful, fragile little soap bubbles that you store in your heart, and every once in a while you pull one out & gaze at the delicate pictures"

Ten Summer Tips!

The summer time sadness is hitting the chords & I only wish if we were making the trips to mountains.In this moment of crisis, I am sharing my secrets for keeping this summer bearable,like a Boss!

It's mid summer already but we still have a long way to go before we usher into monsoon.

In no particular order:  

• Don't Give up on shopping - Just shift to online shopping or mall hopping- There is nothing that brightens my mood more than shopping.I am not a victim either so indoors is my bet.All I am saying is don't die waiting for summers to leave.Head out & stock your closet with happy prints & dose of colors.You will not regret.
• Keep your skin essentials accessible in handbag- With the living in suitcase lifestyle, you cannot afford to miss out on keeping your essentials handy.Instead of getting baked, reapply your sunscreen everytime you step out. Make skin essential's vanity pouch in your handbag carrying a sanitizer,spray, sunscreen(suit to skin type ),hair pins,face wash, lip balm with SPF.A bright lipstick would'nt hurt either. Keep lesser basic things to make them really accessible & not just cluttered.
• Embrace Cotton- I always think more of comfort to skin in summer than excitement of raunchy fabrics.There is nothing like what cotton feels.Embrace Cotton in various avatars like Indian Salwar kameez or fusion cotton dhoti pants.You would be rewarded either way.
• Keep yourself hydrated : I know this is cliched, but you cant miss this, the good skin starts from within. Though I have troublesome skin issues that refuse to die, I never forget to keep myself hydrated enough.Did you know, your mood swings could be because you are dehydrated.Just saying!
• Foot care:  It's summer time & the part which suffers the most is indeed our feet.Dirt & sun-tan,we deserve that foot massage & little spa time.
• Make a white T-shirt & scarf your best friend- If there is anything that you can instantly dresup or down is a white tshirt & a scarf. No dont make it plain vanilla but add your punch of accessories & bright bag along with it.It will keep you summer-proof & all day chic at all times.Recipe to swear-by.
• Denim shorts are for everyone- There is something about denim shorts.We can never have enough of them.Summer is the time ladies!
• Read more Blogs- Not just because I own one*I swear*, it will keep you updated with super ideas from where to hang out to what to wear & how to style,Saving you the over work.Did I say amazing & simple DIYs.
• Backpacking-  Summer is the time to go get the adventurous streak out of you.While I plan some amazing backpack holiday this season, you tread on the same path too.Summer should mean action.
• Have your Dessert First- You don't need to sweat for extra calories,because anyway you are sweating it out. Relax and have it first.Enjoy your ice cream before it melts ;)

Five Best Lip Balms

In a way, this post is summer special because with the heat wave lashing us down, Lip balms are no less than saviors.
Lip Balms should come with statutory warnings for umpteen applications & not be consumed beyond a certain level. I have met people confessing to me of having weakness for consuming them in various flavors.Second Best I have heard after the Cough syrup consuming lot, No please, dont take it as encouragement.Pun intended.

I would be lying if I didn't confess my love & addiction for Lip Balms. After my sunscreen, my lip balm is the second most essential must have that I don't leave my home without. Best bought Handful to have a variety so that you keep switching & to match the mood & occasion.Not that serious theory actually.

This summer, I vouch for these must-haves, till we discover more* greedy grin*

1. Burt Bees- Buy them in various scrumptious flavors & Thank me later. Like Mango, for instance.You will be Spoilt for choice, available at all Sephora stores in the city.

2. Lush tinted- Ultra smooth Lips with a Tint. Need I say more ? Always on my favorites list.

3.Bodyshop- Use it for Night as it's little bit on heavier side but great recovery.

4.Figs & Rouge Lemon Berry Lip - This was a great discovery mainly because its 100% Natural. 100% Pure. Score for that! Did I also say super moisturize? A Little costlier but then you're worth it .

5.Victoria secret Smooth Kiss: Found this in one of the e-comm, and forever was on my lust-list.To me VS sounds like Luxury & luxury shouldn't be denied *Cracks up*

I was wondering that what makes fashion magical for me ?
My Love affair with Fashion only gets strengthened when I lay my eyes on such larger than life red carpet looks, when my favorite icons put together their hearts in their attire.

I had to do a SJP!

If you're a Fashion lover, the initials are just enough for you to to get the drift.
And needless to say if you've followed SATC series, all of us have secretly wished to own a closet like Sarah Jessica Parker. 

The mother of three launched her own fashion and lifestyle label, SJP, in March this year, which featured her own collection of footwear. Best known for her Golden Globe-winning role as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, she was also formerly chief creative officer at Halston Heritage and has launched several best-selling fragrances.
